Miyoshi has spent his whole life losing to Mamiya, the childhood rival who beats him at everything. In their world, a phenomenon called emergence turns some boys into girls to keep the gender ratio balanced, and after weeks in the hospital Mamiya returns to school having become female and chosen to live as a girl. For Miyoshi, who can't stand women, watching his lifelong rival turn into one upends every rule he thought he understood.
