Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist's Journey

Confident high schooler Akiko Higashimura is sure she'll become a popular mangaka before she even graduates, but her drawing can't keep up with her ambition. Hoping for a shortcut, she joins a local art class run by Kenzou Hidaka, a gruff teacher who drills students through endless figure studies and waves a bamboo sword to keep them working. This autobiographical josei manga follows the cartoonist's real years under Hidaka's harsh mentorship and the long road from that classroom to her career.
