Rakuro Hizutome lives to beat "trash games" — broken, half-finished titles most players abandon. Looking for a real challenge, he logs into the acclaimed VR game Shangri-La Frontier under the avatar Sunraku, a player wearing a blue bird mask after selling off his starting armor for early cash. His instincts honed on garbage games carry him through the polished world's brutal monsters, and a talking Vorpal Bunny named Emul joins him as he chases the rare prey other players avoid.
