Kaoru Fukazawa has just wrapped his hit manga Goodnight Sunset and finds his life unraveling in its wake. Out of ideas, drifting through a marriage to a manga editor that has quietly died, he comes to see his readers as consumers of disposable work and himself as little more than a cog producing it. A growing detachment from the industry and an unexpected acquaintance with a sex worker push him further from the life he had built.
