Returning from a school trip, Teru Aoki survives when his bullet train derails inside a mountain tunnel during a violent quake. He wakes in the rubble to find nearly every classmate dead, with only the injured Ako Seto and the unstable Nobuo Takahashi left alive in the dark. As Teru keeps Ako going and Nobuo's fear curdles into something dangerous, the three claw toward the tunnel mouth, not yet knowing the world outside has been gutted by a far larger catastrophe.
