ROOKIES

Koichi Kawato arrives as the new Japanese teacher at Futakotamagawa High, where the baseball club is a pack of delinquents banned from competition for a year after starting a brawl during a match. The players care about girls, cigarettes, and goofing off, and nothing else, but Kawato refuses to write them off and pushes them to remember they once loved the game. He sets them a goal that sounds absurd for thugs with a ruined reputation: the national tournament at Koshien.
