Fukumaru, a large, plain-looking Exotic Shorthair, spends months in a pet shop being passed over for cuter kittens. Then Kanda, an older man who recently lost his wife and rarely hears from his grown children, walks in and chooses him precisely because no one else would. The episodic, gentle series follows the widower and the cat as they learn each other's habits and build a quiet companionship at home.
