Iruma Ikaruga is an ordinary student until mascot-like aliens invade Earth, descending in giant hives and loosing wasps whose stings rot flesh, followed by the towering doll-like giants the survivors call Dollies. The attack costs Iruma his everyday life, his best friend, and the girl he liked. Six months into the ruined world he catches a glimpse of her again, alive, and is pulled into the fight against the invaders and their Dollies.
