Hiroto Ikuta is a 29-year-old drifting through freelance odd jobs in Tokyo, easygoing with everyone except women he finds pretty. His friendship with Hanae Wada, a cranky 83-year-old neighbor he shares meals with, leads to him inheriting her old single-story house. He soon takes in his 18-year-old cousin Natsumi Kobayashi, who has come from Yamagata to prepare for art school entrance exams, and the two settle into life under the same roof.
