Yakumo Saitou is a withdrawn, sharp-tongued college student born with a red left eye that lets him see the spirits of the dead. He treats hauntings as problems with a cause: find the reason a spirit lingers, resolve it, and the haunting ends. Haruka Ozawa tracks him down in the Movie Research Circle room he has taken over, asking for help for a friend who ran into something at school. She is the first stranger who is not afraid of his red eye, and she keeps bringing him cases.
