Melissa Foddebrat is the duke's daughter and designated villainess of a romance novel, and the modern college student who wakes up in her body after a fatal accident has no intention of playing the part. Rather than chase the doomed scheming the book scripted for her, Melissa sets out to live comfortably and to keep the story's heroine from being mistreated by its self-absorbed male leads. Her plan snags on her fiancé, the playboy crown prince Ian Basilios, who refuses to call off the engagement.
