After a distant supernova lit the sky for twelve days, certain people began to change, gaining superhuman powers and becoming known as the Altered. A decade later, governments round them up against their will and ship them to a secret island prison called Area D. Among the new arrivals is Jin Kazaragi, who came willingly to search for his missing brother Rei. His power lets him perfectly copy any ability he touches, marking him out in the island's brutal survival of the fittest.
