Coco lives alone in the mansion at the edge of town with her black cat, Kuro, and the two spend their days playing as though nothing were wrong. Beyond the roads outside, monsters prowl the world, and any that stray into the garden are dealt with by Kuro, who spears them without fuss. The townspeople keep well clear of the house, far less certain than Coco that the creature she calls a pet is as harmless as the cat he resembles.
