Synopsis
Fourteen-year-old Yuichi Sumida, all but abandoned by his abusive parents, drops out of school to run his family's small boat-rental business by a riverbank, sharing the place with a handful of homeless people he lets shelter there. His classmate Keiko Chazawa fixates on him, copying his words onto her bedroom walls and pushing to help him keep the boathouse afloat even as he keeps turning her away.
