Inoue is thirty-two years old and has never once dated anyone. Yamamoto is twenty-eight and in exactly the same position, though she believes he has at least some experience and he has not corrected her. Once the two start seeing each other, neither has anything to fall back on, so every ordinary step of a first relationship has to be worked out from scratch, awkwardly and at their own pace.
