Ryoma Takebayashi, an office worker worn down by a joyless life, dies quietly and is taken pity on by three gods, who give him a child's body and a fresh start in their world. He spends his first years alone in a forest, taming hundreds of slimes and finding uses for their abilities that run from hunting to cleaning. When the traveling Jamil family takes him in, Ryoma steps out of the woods and into the wider world he has been quietly preparing for.
