Mei Sengoku captains the girls' kendo team and is known around school as its samurai, with no interest in anything but getting stronger. When Shirou Fuji, the soft-spoken home economics club member teased for his girlish manner, confesses to her, she turns him down flat. He shows up the next day to say he has no intention of giving up, and Mei, who has never had to think about any of this, finds herself paying attention to him anyway.
