竹光侍

The ronin Souichirou Senou comes down from Shinano province and takes a room in Edo's Katagi tenement, his real blade pawned and a bamboo one at his waist. His neighbors size him up warily at first, then settle: he teaches the local children at the temple school, likes his dumplings, and meets the noise of the city with an open, almost childlike attention. Under the calm sits a swordsman's pull toward the strongest opponents he can find.
