Neuroscientist Mine Kujou crosses paths with a man calling himself Ryousuke Akiba, who is in truth a genetically engineered human carrying the ES gene. The trait grants him an extended lifespan along with the power to enter minds and rearrange memories, so that strangers treat him like family. Together they go after a second ES carrier, Isaac, who escaped the same research program and turns those mental abilities toward hurting people.
