Koyuki, a teenage girl, is married off to a masked man nearly twenty years her senior to seal a political alliance, having never even seen his face. Her husband, Shin, communes with spirits, fairies, and dragons that most people cannot perceive, and by his father-in-law's request loves Koyuki only platonically until she comes of age. Naive himself despite the gap in years, he warms to his eager young wife while hiding both his face and the reason their marriage cannot yet be real.
