Synopsis
On a rainy night in 1958, the desperate gambler Nangou is being bled dry by yakuza at an underground mahjong parlor. A thirteen-year-old runaway named Shigeru Akagi wanders in to wait out the storm, and Nangou, cornered, gambles on letting the boy play in his place. Akagi turns out to have a ruthless instinct for the table, reading opponents and seizing impossible risks, and his debut at this parlor begins his rise into the deadly world of high-stakes mahjong.
