Dante Kang teaches science, and he takes the post at Fog Land because he believes an education is owed to everyone, including the notorious criminals this international prison was built to hold. His first class ends in a violent riot. He wakes in the cell of the man who took him, at the bottom of what the prison itself calls its nine circles, with nothing left to do but survive and find a way out.
