Shigeo Kageyama, a middle-schooler known as Mob, can exorcise spirits and bend metal with his mind, but he keeps his emotions locked down to stop his power from erupting. For guidance he turns to Arataka Reigen, a self-proclaimed spirit medium who is actually a fraud, yet whose life advice Mob takes at face value. As his repressed feelings inch toward a breaking point — tracked by an internal counter creeping toward 100 — the spirits and rival espers circling him grow harder to ignore.
