With Kamakura fallen and the traitor Ashikaga Takauji consolidating a new order that blends shogunate and imperial rule, young Hojo heir Tokiyuki and his mentor Suwa Yorishige send their ragtag "Elusive Gang" on reconnaissance missions to probe a path back toward the city. A new rival faction, the Kanto Hisashiban, begins organizing as muscle for the Ashikaga regime, while Prince Moriyoshi sits imprisoned on trumped-up treason charges. This season continues directly from Tokiyuki's flight after Kamakura's fall, with his talent for escape now having to carry a rebellion rather than just keep him alive.
