College student Keitarou Gentouga carries a cursed right hand that draws spirits to him ever since a childhood incident left him and friend Eiko Houzuki marked by a vengeful ghost. Rejoining society as a private tutor, his first student is Eiko's cousin Yayoi Houzuki, a young prodigy who can see into the spirit world and hunts down dangerous ghosts in search of the one that stole her mother's soul. Yayoi enlists Keitarou's cursed hand for her ghost-hunting missions, promising in exchange to help him break his own curse.
