Hyoma Kunato belongs to the Saenome clan, whose duty is to peacefully send tsukumogami, spirits that awaken in long-used objects, back to where they came from. Hyoma can't manage peaceful: a tsukumogami once took someone precious to him, and he's hated the spirits ever since. To cure him of that hatred, his grandfather sends him to Kyoto to live with Botan Nagatsuki, a young woman who treats the six tsukumogami in her house as family rather than a duty to be finished. This manga is the source material for the two-season anime adaptation.
