Starving on their small boat, Luffy and his crewmates Zoro and Nami are attacked by a sea monster: it drags Nami off and leaves Luffy and Zoro washed up on an island under pirate control. There they meet a girl named Medaka, whose father and the other villagers have been enslaved by the pirate Ganzack. Luffy and Zoro infiltrate Ganzack's base to free the villagers and get Nami back. This 1998 OVA was the first One Piece animation, predating the TV series.
