High schooler Takao Akizuki skips class on rainy mornings to sketch shoe designs in Tokyo's Shinjuku Gyoen garden, where he keeps running into Yukari Yukino, an older woman who never gives her name. Neither talks about what's actually wrong in their lives, but the quiet rainy-day meetings become the one place both can be honest without saying much at all. This manga adapts Makoto Shinkai's Garden of Words film and adds new material, including an extended ending not shown in the movie.
