On the island of Hinomoto, where a plague of undead creatures called Kabane can only be killed by piercing the iron-armored heart no ordinary weapon can reach, steamsmith Ikoma builds a piercing weapon of his own at Aragane Station. When the station falls to a Kabane swarm, Ikoma is bitten and survives as a Kabaneri, a human-Kabane hybrid, and finds an ally in Mumei, another Kabaneri fighting to keep the station's survivors alive aboard the armored train Koutetsujou. This manga adapts the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress anime.
