College student Hana falls in love with a man who is secretly a wolf, and after he dies hunting to feed their family, she is left raising their two half-wolf children, Yuki and Ame, entirely on her own. Unable to predict when her kids will shift between human and wolf form, Hana moves the family to the countryside to hide their nature and give them room to choose who they'll become. This novelization retells the Wolf Children film in prose, following Hana's fight to protect her children through both ordinary and impossible hardships.
