Synopsis
Major Motoko Kusanagi leads Public Security Section 9 through the neon sprawl of Niihama City in this new anime adaptation of the original manga. When a hacker known only as the Puppet Master starts leaving victims stripped of their memories, Kusanagi and her team follow the trail while she wrestles with her own questions about identity inside a fully cybernetic body. Unlike the earlier films or Stand Alone Complex, it follows the manga closely and keeps its lighter, more irreverent tone. The story is set in 2029.
