Osamu Mikumo is a low-ranked agent of Border, the organization defending Mikado City from Neighbors crossing over through a dimensional gate, when new transfer student Yuma Kuga turns out to be from the Neighbors' own world. The two team up with Chika Amatori to form a squad and start climbing Border's ranks toward a mission into the Neighborhood itself. The reboot re-adapts the manga from chapter one with new animation, redoing the stretch the original series' first season covered and leaving the later arcs as they were.
