Shinichi Kanou, a shut-in otaku obsessed with anime and games, is offered a job on the strength of his fandom knowledge, then drugged at the interview and hauled through a government portal into the Holy Eldant Empire. His actual assignment is to work as Japan's own kind of otaku missionary, spreading manga, anime, and games among the empire's elves and nobles. Aided by the half-elf maid Myucel Foaran, Shinichi has to navigate class prejudice and political suspicion just to keep his mission running.
