A stray magic circle drags childhood friends Taichi Nishimura and Rin Azuma out of an ordinary school morning and into the world of Altianutz, where a pack of monsters nearly kills them before adventurers intervene. Once they enroll at the local guild, testing reveals Taichi as an exceedingly rare Unique Magician and Rin as a Quad Magician able to command all four elements, forcing the guild to rethink what these two newcomers are actually capable of.
