Raishin Akabane enrolls at the Royal Walpurgis Academy with his living puppet Yaya, entering the Night Party, a tournament where puppeteers and their automatons fight for the title of Wiseman. His grades mark him as an unremarkable student, but Raishin's real reason for competing is tracking down whoever destroyed his family, and the academy's murderous student body won't make that search easy.
