Atsuko 'Akko' Kagari enrolls at Luna Nova Magical Academy with no witch blood and barely any magical talent, driven only by her admiration for the witch performer Shiny Chariot. This manga tells an original story set alongside the films, following Akko and her roommates Lotte Yanson and Sucy Manbavaran through early lessons that keep exposing how far behind she is compared to classmates like the pedigreed Diana Cavendish. Rather than adapting any of the films scene for scene, it charts its own version of Akko's rocky start at the school.
