This light novel series follows Ryner Lute, a lazy student at the Roland Empire's royal magic academy, after the war with neighboring Estabul kills his classmates and leaves him hollowed out. His friend Sion Astal, the newly crowned king of Roland, sends him searching for the relics of a legendary hero, partnered with the sharp-tongued swordswoman Ferris Eris, and the search uncovers a curse spreading unchecked across the land. A sequel series, The Legend of the Great Legendary Heroes, later continues the story.
