In the border village of Kunlun, sixteen-year-old Lloyd Belladonna is the weakest resident by local standards, which still makes him strong enough that no one back home realizes how skewed his sense of scale is. After winning permission from Alka, the centuries-old witch who serves as Kunlun's village chief, Lloyd leaves for the capital to become a soldier, misreading his own considerable feats as ordinary along the way. He soon picks up companions, including a cursed noblewoman who has fallen for him and a mercenary who sees him as a chance to get rich, both baffled by how little he understands his own strength.
