This manga adapts Nisio Isin's Zodiac War novel, in which twelve fighters take the names of the Chinese zodiac every twelve years and kill each other for a single wish granted to the last one standing. Rat, real name Tsugiyoshi Sumino, would rather not kill anyone at all, and gets through the war by living out a hundred versions of it and keeping only the one he chooses. Ox, real name Eiji Kashii, needs no such trick and cuts down whatever stands in front of him. Each chapter shifts to another warrior's approach to the same war.
