Seven of Japan's most talented teenagers, among them Prime Minister Tsukasa Mikogami and inventor Ringo Ohoshi, survive a plane crash and wake up in Freyjagard, a fantasy empire held together by magic and old feudal rule. Taken in at Elm Village, they start putting their expertise to work, and the improvements they bring soon look less like charity than a threat to the way the empire is ordered. This light novel is the original source for the manga and anime.
