Zero, a witch searching for her stolen spellbook, hires a nameless mercenary from a beast-like race called the beastfallen to serve as her guard on the road. He agrees in exchange for her promise to eventually make him human, and the two set out across a world where witches are feared but magic itself is barely understood. This manga adapts the Grimoire of Zero light novels' opening volume.
