The magical world runs on the energy of children's innocence, and Japan's falling birth rate has left it critically short, so the wizard Riri targets Anzu Hoshino, a high schooler who'd rather play games, eat chocolate, and pet her cat than fall for anyone. Riri confiscates all three distractions to force the issue, but Anzu keeps finding workarounds until a literal collision with classmate Tsukasa Kazuki, a boy she'd always ignored, leaves her unable to avoid him anymore. Her resistance campaign against her own supposed fate is the engine of the story.
