Sawako Kuronuma, nicknamed Sadako by classmates who find her long black hair and quiet manner unsettling, wants nothing more than to make friends and be useful. When the most popular boy in class, Shōta Kazehaya, starts talking to her without hesitation, Sawako's world begins to open — she gains her first real friendships with Ayane and Chizuru, and a slow, uncertain romance with Kazehaya starts to take shape.
