Synopsis
In an alternate postwar Japan split between a US-aligned south and the Union-controlled north, Hiroki Fujisawa and Takuya Shirakawa spend their teenage years fixated on a massive tower visible across the strait from Aomori, rising from Hokkaido into the sky. In 1996 the two friends, joined by classmate Sayuri Sawatari, pledge to build their own aircraft and fly to the tower together, a promise interrupted when Sayuri disappears from her home that summer without explanation. This light novel is the official novelization of the 2004 film of the same name.
