In Kyoto, where tanuki, tengu, and humans quietly coexist, Yasaburou Shimogamo is the third son of a shapeshifting tanuki family living in the Tadasu no Mori forest. His father was eaten in a hot pot by the human society known as the Friday Fellows. Yasaburou now splits his time between caring for his aging tengu teacher, sparring with rival tanuki clans, and keeping company with Benten, the sharp-tongued human woman that same teacher taught to fly. All the while, he circles closer to the truth behind his father's death. This manga adapts the original novel The Eccentric Family.
