This light novel retells the story of Gundam SEED: on the neutral colony Heliopolis, a secret Earth Alliance project builds the battleship Archangel and five prototype Gundams. When ZAFT, the military of the genetically enhanced Coordinators, raids the colony and steals four of the machines, civilian Coordinator Kira Yamato pilots the last one, the Strike, and is thrown into direct combat against his own childhood friend Athrun Zala.
