Fushimi Inari has a hopeless crush on her classmate Tanbabashi Kouji, and one clumsy attempt to talk to him ends in humiliating him in front of the whole class. After she rescues an injured fox pup, the shrine goddess Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami grants her a wish out of gratitude, and Inari's first impulse is to become the confident, popular Sumizome Akemi. The goddess instead gives her the power to shapeshift into anyone, a gift that comes with the risk of angering Amaterasu herself.
