In an alternate 1950s where two rival superpowers race each other into space, the Zirnitra Union turns to a secret project: putting a vampire into orbit first, to prove a human could survive the flight. Irina Luminesk, the vampire handed to the programme, is placed in the care of Lev Leps, an air force lieutenant and cosmonaut candidate ordered to treat her as a test subject rather than a person. This manga adapts the opening chapters of the Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu light novels.
