Eleven years after augmented-reality eyewear reshapes daily life, Yuuko Okonogi moves to Daikoku City and inherits her late grandfather's old-model glasses along with Densuke, a virtual pet dog only visible through them. She soon meets another Yuuko, nicknamed Isako, a gifted hacker chasing rogue programs called illegals through the city's hidden layers of augmented reality.
