After Sohoku's Inter-High championship win, the team's third-years are getting ready to graduate, and it falls to Onoda Sakamichi, training alongside Imaizumi Shunsuke and Naruko Shoukichi, to help carry the team's legacy forward. When Sohoku receives an invitation to the Kumamoto Fire Country Mountain Race, an invitational for the season's top-performing teams, the captain decides to send the core Inter-High roster to compete. The film picks up in the gap between that Inter-High victory and the next season.
